Company · About & origin

## The rider at the point. Not the one who watched from the ridge.

Wahukeza is a small company building a threat-intelligence platform that meets the attacker first, on sensors you own, and turns what it sees into enforcement for everyone you protect. This page explains where the name comes from and what we believe.

The word

## Wahúkeza (wah-HOO-keh-zah)

_Wahúkeza_ is the Lakota word for the lance, the spear carried at the front of a hunt or a fight. On the Plains the lance was the weapon of the point rider, the one who closed first. It was not the tool of the person who watched from the ridge.

That is where we put the platform. Your sensors sit forward of your clients and meet the attacker before anyone else does. What they see becomes blocklists your firewalls already speak, and a warning every tenant hears at once. We are the tip of the spear, so your clients never have to be.

The product name is the plain ASCII form, Wahukeza. The accented form appears once, here, to be accurate about where the word comes from. Four syllables, stress on the second; the _z_ is soft, like the _s_ in “measure”.

Using the word with respect

## Borrowed with attribution, not taken.

Wahukeza is a living word in a living language, Lakȟótiyapi. Using it is legitimate (it is a common noun, not a sacred term, a person's name or a tribal name) and it comes with obligations we hold ourselves to.

- Attribution, every time

Wherever the story is told (this page, the footer, a deck, a press kit), the word is credited to the Lakota language.

- No pastiche

No feathers, warbonnets, arrows-and-tipis, “warrior” or “tribe” vocabulary, faux-indigenous type or patterns. The mark is a geometric spearhead: it references the meaning, not the people.

- Plain feature names

Sensors, Exchange, Alerts. No lance vocabulary in the product, and no tier named after it.

- Giving something back

A fixed annual contribution to a Lakota language-revitalisation programme; the recipient is named here once agreed.

- Accepting correction

If a Lakota speaker points out a better transliteration or a nuance, we update this page and thank them publicly.

What we believe

## Six positions the product is built on.

- ### Provenance beats latency

“Threat-informed” usually means “we read the same public advisories, faster.” Intelligence you generated on your own sensors is a different thing, and the ledger proves it.

- ### Sovereignty is architecture

A region is not an answer to a compelled-access request. Where the software runs, and whether it phones home, are the answer.

- ### Isolation is a database, not a filter

A provider’s clients deserve a boundary a compliance reviewer can point at.

- ### Safety must be structural

Sensors that cannot become shells; captured artefacts that cannot become executables; response actions that cannot ride a telemetry channel.

- ### Plain packages, plain limits

Four packages and a module list that match the licence file, unlimited analysts, and the metered units named up front. And say where we lose.

- ### Small team, plain voice

Technical-first and allergic to hype. The spear is the sharp part; the copy stays calm.
